I get what you are saying but surely if they can't use the tools to visualise it it's going to be very difficult. I did exactly the same with my two as a double edged sword to learn Excel AND budgets. Started them off with a simple list and taught them more complexity in small steps.

It's worth doing. As soon as they were competent with excel I got them on the company PAYE and paid them 10k each for book keeping.

Did you invoice them for training? Or does your company have budget for training prospective employees?
