                  Dick Fosbury: The athlete who developed the 'Fosbury Flop' dies aged 76

                  I always thought he came along and smashed the world record with a technique nobody had ever seen, but looking at the record progression he never had a WR. His star performance of 2.24 in 1968 was short of a WR and only equalled the former WR from 1961. It wasn't until 1973 someone set a WR using his technique.
