I agree with the new limits. OK you might still live to 70 overindulging in booze, but most of your life will be spent hungover or operating at < 70% and when your drunk making bad decisions. If you have to, you should only go over the limit on special occasions i.e. wedding, stag do etc, a few times a year. If you can't enjoy life without alcohol then you need to take a hard look at yourself.

To be quite frank, operating < 70% has worked out very nicely for me.

It also been a feck of a lot of fun

Whenever I take a hard look at myself I see double. Hic.

I've got to admit a lot of the time I drink out of boredem. Which can't be good. I should really make an effort to find something better things to do.

Yes, dear: I think your peppermints are working. I haven't even thought of a drink for two day.'

Just your thing. It plays to the humourless controlling killjoy public sector agenda. Anything that doesn't conform is labelled as bad for you, racist or unfair.

Sorry for your loss, however, making decisions based on the outcome of one person's life is a logical fallacy. Take 500k people who drink heavily and 500k who drink within the limits or not at all and compare their standard of living , health and mortality.

It's no more or less dangerous than it was yesterday and recommendations vary from nation to nation.

The limit has been chosen as the point at which you statistically have a 1% chance of dying from alcohol-related causes. Even if that's reliable, it seems a bit risk-averse.
