Get two cats instead!Originally posted by MaryPoppins View PostI just hate the idea of two cars. Aside from two lots of insurance etc, I just don't know if the amount of dog driving I'd be doing could justify it.Comment

That's the point. You are going to stink up you main car for the occasional times you drive your dog.Originally posted by MaryPoppins View PostI just hate the idea of two cars. Aside from two lots of insurance etc, I just don't know if the amount of dog driving I'd be doing could justify it.
Do have a look at the option and do the maths. You will probably find that its is a financially viable option.Comment

From your post, I take it you don't own a well-behaved dog?…Maybe we ain’t that young anymoreComment

As much as I love my dogs I would not enjoy the lingering smell of them when they have been swimming, in the Tesla I am afraid. Neither would my clients.Originally posted by WTFH View PostFrom your post, I take it you don't own a well-behaved dog?
It's not puking or tulipting, it's the wet dog smell that most people overlook. But they will puke until they get used to the car, that is a given.Comment

Not wanting to jump to conclusions, but I think MP may have meant "I'll bear that in mind if a ten mile wide asteroid hits the Earth and destroys practically all of humanity and sends a tidal wave sweeping over Europe which washes away every scrap of land except for a small island, on which by some miracle FLC's house is the only one left standing."Originally posted by MrMarkyMark View PostOriginally posted by MaryPoppinsI'll bear that in mind.

Freelander 2, 12k will get you a low milleage 60 plate or 11 plate ish mid miles
Nice to drive, nippy enough, proper off road capability...4wd and terrain assist/hill descent control (unless base model), bluetooth, autolights, parking sensors. 40 mpg on motorway, early 30s around town. Dont consider one pre facelift, much less reliable.
Boot smallish but big with seats down. Same size as original range rover.

Dacia Logan MCV lots of space for your money, and easily available brand new for your budgetOriginally posted by MaryPoppins View Post...lord help me for posting this here, but I suspect some of you might have some good ideas.
I'm planning on getting a dog, and am trying to ensure I'm as prepared as possible, particularly since I'm hoping to get an english mastiff [puppy].
I need to swap my car, and am struggling with which model to go for. I need something large enough to transport a very large dog breed, whilst being economical enough to commute in. I detest faux 4x4s, and am nervous of the costs involved in something like a land rover. I also don't think I can be arsed with anything rear wheel drive, but might be persuaded given I could just invest in some decent winter tyres perhaps.
Budget wise, I don't want to spend more than £12k.
Advice most gratefully taken...Comment
