Oh I'm the Volvo fan here for dog & dogging related activities.

The point I was trying to make is that if she is worried about the image of a Volvo an Dacia just might be an issue.

Also hard plastics like in a Daciasuck when it comes to dogs claws, and I find them cold an uncomfortable for dogging.

I'm planning on getting a dog, and am trying to ensure I'm as prepared as possible, particularly since I'm hoping to get an english mastiff [puppy].

I need to swap my car, and am struggling with which model to go for. I need something large enough to transport a very large dog breed, whilst being economical enough to commute in. I detest faux 4x4s, and am nervous of the costs involved in something like a land rover. I also don't think I can be arsed with anything rear wheel drive, but might be persuaded given I could just invest in some decent winter tyres perhaps.

Budget wise, I don't want to spend more than £12k.

            Advice most gratefully taken...
Do you prefer big Boots ?
If you do, the damage you might take if you ever get rear-ended is minimised, although your spare tyre might get spattered from the grease nipple near your hinge point.

12k for a dog is a bit steep in my opinion. you could get a car for that

She seems more of an Uggs kind of girl to me as she doesn't like the image of a Volvo.

                For dirty dog carrying:

                Honda Hr-V 1.6 i VTEC Station Wagon 3dr

4 wheel drive, Japanese reliability, plenty of space.

The Wife(tm)'s last car was a Honda CRV. 4wd petrol. Drank the fuel like a contractor at a free bar (24mpg on long runs). Couldn't pull teeth. Needed a new battery every other year. We bought it when it was 2 years old. Had more issues in 4 years of Honda ownership than 8 years of me driving Alfas.

A real contractor never goes for free stuff

Free bar to me is any time the clientco put their credit card behind it. That way I don't need to ask for receipts.
