Got a mate who I've worked with in the past. Known him for years. We worked for a small company together which went under and he set up on his own and took over the support contract for a few of the customers.
In the past, because he doesn't have the skillset for all of it hes contacted me. In the past, hes paid me retainer every month of£400 (he lost that contract now), paid me for work (once gave me £2K for weekends work). Hes a top guy and never takes the piss.
More recently, I've gone to his customer site and told him cover my normal days billing and we're sorted job done. So I make nothing in effect I just do something different for the day.
I've done some remote work for him recently. 4-5 hours. Hes asked me send me an invoice for what he owes me?
Anyone do similar for 'mates'? Do you charge normal rate or less?
BTW - all above board this not cash in hand. All done via invoices etc.
