As long as we don't hurt each other, is integration essential?
This seems to be a western model.
I'm just putting it out there.
I think it is essential. If people are going to hold to a common set of values and laws then everyone should feel that they are equal in the eyes of the law and in access to jobs and education.
Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone

It's a bit of a tautology. Without freedom of association, we have no way of signalling what is and isn't acceptable, or desirable, behaviour. That means that eventually people will hurt each other as the law leaves us no alternative.
It might as well read "Peaceful non-integration is fine, so long as it's peaceful. So who cares if we integrate?".
Yes. If I went to Saudi I would expect to follow their cultures and laws.
Right. And whether their culture & laws are good or bad is besides the point. Cultural diversity is a recipe for violence. Cultural homogeneity is a recipe for progress. Whomever has the good set of cultures & laws will prosper, and those that don't will eventually see what they're missing out on.
And no, I wouldn't consider the Spanish culture, for example, to be distinct from our own in any meaningful sense of the word.
