I'm with the OP. You don't see enough condemnation.
I fear that a fair few actually have a bit of sympathy with the extremists.

Sure I saw something somewhere that 27% had some sympathy with the Charlie Hebdo ones.

I'm sorry, but Islam needs to sort its own house out first.

Talking of force, why not start an anti-terror-army, again to defend the true beliefs of their faith? (OK this is a bit far but I'm vexed at a lot of this tulipe right now)

But no, it seems that the many thousands booing at the football games speak far louder than the apparent moderate billions.
So do you watch the Islamic channels to see what they are saying?

No. neither does the Western media.

There has been world wide condemnation of the attacks from Muslim countries.

Paris attacks: Muslims around the world condemn Islamic State massacre

If you actually read the reports on the Turkey match you would realise that the booing was not out of disrespect for the Paris victims but against what is widely seen as the hypocrisy of Europeans by not holding a similar silence for the victims of the ISIS bombing in Ankara (The Turkish capital) that killed more than 100 people last month.

Surely something is wrong here. If Muslim (Turkey & Bosnia) football fans can boo the minute's silence that was held in respect for Paris, then what the world sees is that most Muslims support and believe in the fundamentalist view.

If the 1.6 billion followers of Islam don't come out and stand up against the - supposedly - minority of fundamentalists then the world will quite naturally assume the vast majority of Muslims to hold extremist views. Perhaps then, frightening though it is to accept, this is the truth?
I think the booing was more related to the recent bombings by ISIS in Lebanon and Turkey. There were little mass outpouring of grief by UK et al. on those events. I think the day after Paris there was another bombing in Lebanon kiling about 40.

As for the rest of it..would anyone take Muslims seriously. Most simply believe that any Muslims engaging in anti-ISIS rally is either not a Muslim or is lying. Damned if you do. damned if you don't.

It doesn't help when weak-minded men go around physically assaulting Muslim women. That's really gonna get the Muslims on side, NOT.

People following the Islam faith number almost 1.6 billion. I would expect that the vast majority are moderates and only a very small % are extreme.

So when such abhorrent events are perpetrated by Islamic fundamentalists, why don't we ever hear from the vast majority of Muslims to condemn them?
Perhaps because they do condemn them, but the places you look don't report the condemnation because it doesn't suit their agenda?

Rupert Murdoch's empire and the Daily Mail do not sell papers/make TV by showing how people can act reasonably. They rely on promoting fear and division. That's how they make money.

Plenty of condemnation from Muslims around the world but of course, some will still say they don’t hear these condemnations. I don’t doubt those people. The mainstream media is about ratings, meaning that bloodshed will be covered 24/7 while denunciations by Muslims will get little to no press.

I can't remember where but I saw on telly last night some young muslims saying "Terrorism is not Islam".

Thinking 1.6 billion people should all speak with one voice is almost as bad as thinking that 1.6 billion people are terrorists because nine of them are. The vast majority of muslims probably have no idea what happened in Paris, and expecting them to condemn IS is a bit like expecting us to condemn something in South America just because we both happen to be from historically christian countries.

Given a vote, it would be a close run thing for the public to bring back the death penalty; but our elected leaders are dead against it.

The point, is that a few leaders do not necessarily reflect the views of their community. This duplicity cannot be ignored.
