Did you think "I want to go contracting" and then realise setting up a Ltd was the best way to pursue that? Or did you decide "I want to run a business" and then decide selling yourself as a service was the best business opportunity you could think of.

If it had been equally tax-efficient and afforded the same protection/opportunities to work as a self-employed individual without the red tape of running a Ltd, would you still have set up a business?

the latter, for years. Contracting was just an opportunity to start and raise capital. When I was starting I wasn't even thinking how much I would save on tax vs permie because I wanted to keep it all within LTD and invest

That sounds very much like you're setting up a tautology there.

I am keen, dear readers, to find out whether you have any examples of how the UK has become less attractive for jobs or investment. Do you know of people who have decided to leave or not to come here, or invest their cash elsewhere? Why? Living costs, quality of life, tax or red tape? Can you put your finger on what may be tipping us over the edge? Clearly, we are still doing very well – but how could we be doing even better? Do email.

I like his pieces generally, but I think they'd be even better if he finally gets it in his head that the Tories are not and have no interest in being the party of free enterprise, even if some in the party are so inclined.

They are the party of free enterprise for multinationals, they just would prefer small business to keep small or even better give up and all become permies
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

Maybe its time to find a nice taxi free contract in the UAE or Dubai?
