Watch out as you might end up like Brillo, "refreshed" as they say now

Got the wife an iPad mini with retina screen, fits in her handbag for the tube journeys.

Bloody expensive way just to keep up with Facebook and play Candy Crush though.

Tablets and phones age quickly. By which I mean: manufacturers stop supporting them quickly. Samsung does anyway.
That reminds me, I need to install the iOS 9.1 update on the iPad 2 I bought back in 2011.

Glad to hear Apple support their kit for longer. Good argument for Apple right there.

I just installed PCLinuxOS 2013 on a 1998 laptop. And it is usable for browsing and running Office. Just. Apparently Windows 7 would also work. Could phone/tablet makers support their old kit in the same way ? Or do they remove support just to make us throw stuff in landfill ?

Couldn't you save money and just buy her an Etch A Sketch and a small cardboard box painted black that simply says The Internet
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

Ummm, planned obsolescence is a real thing in the apple world... your phone pretty much kills itself after 2 OS updates
