This is important so please pay attention...

When you replace an empty toilet roll on the holder, do you have the loose end hanging to the front or the back of the roll?

My mother always taught me that it should hang to the front. My wife, who is from the north, and therefore knows nothing of these things, hangs it to the back.

Dunno about etiquette but personally, I think it looks better hanging at the front and it rolls better!!

I hang my loose end to the left, personally .

If you hang to the back there is a risk that the paper will stick to the wall, which is contaminated. Therefore, unless you have a cat (or child) that likes to pull the paper from the roll, always hang to the front.

Since I worked in Saudi I've adopted the ME method - a hose with a showerhead basically.

Far more hygienic.
