The 5 series is a massive car. It's like a bloody barge. Had a test drive of one coming from a normal family car and it was far too big for daily use. 3 series is must more practical.

I can't help thinking people that want older 5 series beemers are failed wanna be executives that still want to pretend they achieved the dizzy heights of 5 series as a company car.

Well maybe wannabe executives or maybe freaking comfort inside? I've looked some video reviews, this thingy points the lights the way you turn , have awesome tech etc. It seems like a very good value. And i sat in it, its so damn comfortable
A5 on the other hand wont be anywhere close to that comfort but looks nice, and can open the roof, and is smaller

Looks like the 520 ED keeps the 184bhp tuning.

Personally, having this engine in my 320d, it is excellent. But you will want 6 cylinders.

If that's important then I suggest you don't buy a car, they're a heavily depreciating asset unless you buy a classic.
That BMW you linked first probably left the forecourt at well upwards of 30k (I can't be bothered to check) and 2 years later a dealer will sell at ~£16.5k and make a profit.

Sounds like a 3 series with a folding roof is the one for you?

Yes they go for 30k + and sell for 17 after 3 years

I had a 5 series on lease until January, it is a big car but it's fine for daily commutes and handles pretty well. Saying that had the 3 series before that and it handles better.

Had front and rear parking sensors which is probably a must for this car.

And after 5 years when you've put some mileage on? You've acknowledged it devalued by 50%+ already, it will keep losing that value, but you posted about losing money. Get a clue.
I wouldn't have been surprised if that idiot NWPTC had posted this thread, it's appropriately daft and badge oriented for him.

I did the math , would lose 4k over 2 years in car deprecation.

that bmw 3 convertible looks nice but is more expensive. Would stretch budget.... eh. Its always like this , isn't it?
