So it'll be just for the wealthy then?

I don't know if you've checked recently but borrowing is a bit stricter nowadays.

I'm sure it used to go something like this...
      Work
      Save
Buy a crappy bedsit or flat in a tulip area of town
      Work
      Save
Sell your flat and buy a crappy house in a tulip area of town
      Work
      Save
Sell your tiny house and buy a bigger house, perhaps in a nice area of town
      Work
      Save
      Have children

      Now, it's..
      Leave Uni
      Buy a nice house
      Buy a car
      Have kids
with little or no endeavour or hardship, and somehow the fact that that is not possible is my generation's fault.

I'm pretty sure if they checked most burger bars clientele their financial status would be poorer than a Nando's customers.

You don't think a coffee in a coffee bar actually costs £2-3 to make and the coffee beans cost £20 a lb so they don't pay UK tax?

You don't think a Supermarket paying minimum wage isn't exploitation?

But you are quite happy for someone making 5% profit before refurbishments in a good year where the tenants pay the rent on a BTL should be punished?
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

It's the politics of envy. Pure jealousy that some people work harder than others and have a better life, therefore they must be punished.

It often seems the case, I've seen neighbors and friends become indifferent towards me since I've made improvements to the house and I've not changed a bit. Envy when there's nothing to be envious of, it's just the reward(s) of working hard.

I do however think they should crackdown on politicians BTL portfolios as it does seem like a conflict of interest at times.

I think they've got a point - next time run a local consultation before improving your entrance

again it depends on where in the country you live, houses where I live are still very affordable.

                      So first time buyers are:

                      1. Getting older

                      2. Paying larger deposits (as multiples of incomes)

                      3. Getting less square footage for what they buy
