Syria possibly 'just weeks away' from Bono charity single
As the world continues to reel from the latest harrowing revelations from Syria’s ongoing civil war, a fresh terror is now driving urgent efforts to find a lasting solution: the news U2 frontman Bono has ‘taken to the studio’ with the aim of producing a stirring ballad to highlight the suffering.
According to a UN report published this morning, Syria is now “just weeks away from a Bono charity single”, and opposing sides must “act with immediacy to prevent further unimaginable suffering”.
“The mere thought of [Bono] looking earnestly into the camera, pulling a pained expression and rhyming something with Aleppo should be enough to bring President Assad to the negotiations table immediately,” said UN secretary general Ban Ki Moon in a statement. “We desperately urge all parties to lay down their arms and work towards a viable peace plan to ensure whatever he’s recording never sees the light of day.”
Refugee camps across Lebanon have been put on high alert for the arrival of Bono, Bob Geldof and “probably Chris Martin” following rumours of a music video that will see them “crouching on a muddy floor while surrounded by smiling children in ragged clothes”.When freedom comes along, don't PISH in the water supply.....Comment

I go into Waitrose for my lunch every day.
And in Waitrose they give you a little green woken at the till after you have paid and you put it into one of 3 charity boxes on your way out.
Each box is a clear, perspex container displaying a sign outlining the work done by that charity.
The fullest box, way ahead of the other 2 by a country mile, was a local animal shelter.
The emptiest one was some chartity that featured "ethnicity" and "empowerment" in its blurb. All a bit Common Porpoise in other words.
It was practically empty.Comment

Where the right criminalises migrants, liberals infantilise them, reducing them from moral agents who have made a decision to migrate to childlike victims in need of rescue by virtuous Westerners. The much-shared, wept-over photo of three-year-old Aylan Kurdi spoke to the new Western view of the migrant: as hapless, helpless; pathetic; children requiring our care. The hard right juxtaposes itself to the threatening migrant; the pseudo-humanitarian left presents itself as lifesaver to the childish migrant. Both sides dehumanise them, for self-serving reasons.Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment

Nice to know Brendan knows exactly how many have crossed the Channel in one way or another. Perhaps he could nip along to Downing Street and let them know. Or he's a lefty moron talking ballhooks. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn't existComment

Is Hungary so bad to live in that the migrants will walk 100 miles to Austria rather than live there.
Also is France so bad that migrants in calais will risk life and limb to come to UK.Comment
