          Gordon Brown on Corbyn

Politicians come and go but values stay.

Brown (and Blair) should look up the term "useful idiot".

They're still under the delusion that people liked them and value their opinion. I don't. I still wouldn't vote for Corbyn and agree with him on precious little, but at least he isn't Brown or Blair.

But he also argues that, in the interests of peace with Israel, you have to talk to these militant groups. It's pragmatic, even if critics say Hamas is not really interested in peace and continues to attack Israel during ceasefires.
From a practical viewpoint I don't wholly disagree with his position. In the end, to solve any conflict, you have to be at least prepared to negotiate with the extremists. Talking to the moderates usually isn't going to solve anything as they have no influence. In NI it was those like Adams and Paisley whose agreement ended the worst of the tensions.

You also have to be prepared to walk away and realise sometimes people do not what peace at a price you're prepared to accept

You can just imagine Uncle Corbyn waving a piece of paper from ISIS, saying we'll stop bombing them and let them have their Islamic republic of Luton. Saying it is peace for our time. We thank the religion of peace from the bottom of our hearts. Go home British public and get a nice quiet sleep, we have peace for our time
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

It'll be an interesting experiment, which I'll be glad to watch from a safe distance - on the other side of the English Channel.

I'm not suggesting we give in to unacceptable demands like the end of Israel, just that you can keep the door open while opposing. Sooner or later ideologies may die and people can weary of conflict. Slightly more moderate elements may take control and are prepared to be a bit more compromising. Look at Farc in Columbia.

Interesting book here. Might read it.

Corbyn supports people whose stated aim is just that, but supporting terrorists seems to be PC for lefties
