    Wi-Fi enabled Fridge

MrsB has just called to say that our frisge freezer is dying. Time to look for a new one.

I seem to remember a while back there was a lot of fuss about the Internet of Things and WiFi enabled appliances.

Did this ever become a thing? Can you buy Wi-Fi enabled fridges?

The in me really wants one but I suspect it's a huge waste of money.

28 cu. ft. 4-Door Refrigerator with 8" Wi-Fi Enabled LCD and Counter-Height FlexZone ™ Drawer

Still very much a gimmick, I remember talk of when ever you took something out a RFID tag would add it to a shopping list, or you could ask for recipes based on what is in the fridge.

I guess we need to wait for Apple to invent it first

Yes, but you'll need to buy WiFi enabled food.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

After a configurable number of beers have been removed it disables your E-Bay account.
Wish I'd had one years ago.

Why on earth would anybody want a WiFi enabled fridge? They're always switched on

What would you want to do to a fridge remotely?

Now a WiFi enabled cooker or washing machine I can understand.

All the decades of design innovation and the decide to make the first Wi-Fi kettle the worst looking pile of crap I think I've ever seen. That gonna put off even the tech geeks surely.
