    Internet enabled central heating control is the *best*, especially if you work away during the week. I wouldn't be without it now.

    Most expensive kettle on Amazon:

    £900 - with 22ct gold decoration, a proper contractor's kettle.

    No reviews? Hmmmmm.....

    I had one of these for nearly forty years.

    ..until the wife dropped it.
    It's still in my list of things to fix, just a little seam weld and it'll be good as new.

    - that and a firmware upgrade....

    I find this IoT thing complete bollocks.
    If I walk into a room, I don't want the kettle to boil (I've been away for a month and it's full of green stuff or worse, it's empty - bang!), I don't want the tv to switch to my favourite station (Oops, sorry Vicar), I don't want the stereo to play my favourite music (It's ******* three am), or the lights to switch on (Oooh! Naked!), or off(Owww). The cooker doesn't need to cook my favourite meal(OK, it can't), the fridge doesn't need to bleat that there's something off in there (three am again).

    The majority of it is thought up by grown-up kids playing 'wouldn't it be great if.....' without thinking out a proper business case, use cases, the possible unintended consequences.

    It's like walking into a bar and the barman has already poured 'my' pint. I really hate that.

    </rant>
    Worst thing is, I'm working on IoT stuff.......
