She doesn't seem to cover that issue though - the shift pattern was untenable (reasonable) - but nothing about any attempts to resolve that.

Maybe it's in the nature of that job that you work irregular hours, like a night-club bar-tender complaining they can't get shifts during the day?

. I applied for flexible hours under the Fire Service flexible working policy, I applied for a job share post, I applied for day work roles, other jobs in the Fire Service closer to home, and was turned down on all counts.
This must be true, as the Fire service did not sue her for libel. QED.

she was an emergency dispatcher I assume that is one of the people in a call centre that coordinates the despatch of fire engines, fires tend to happen more often during the night I assume the day slots are jealously guarded by the old hands.

I found this post that has a better sense of perspective, weighing up Monroe's 'offence' - leaving a job to find another that enabled her to be a better mother and the associated apparent 'entitlement' to State support - yes she was as 'entitled' as anybody else, if you're deemed to have voluntarily made yourself unemployed then some benefits are withheld - against her contributions of bringing up a son and writing a food blog publishing cheap recipes, and comparing these to Littlejohn's 'job' of writing populist hate-filled BS articles for the quantity press.

Contrast the value of Jack’s contribution to society with that of Richard Littlejohn. The words that Richard writes have no practical use whatsoever. Would the world be one iota worse off had they never been written? Nope.

The truth is that Richard Littlejohn is a parasite, a scrounger who lives off the backs of the people who spend their active years doing stuff that’s essential for our survival and comfort: farmers, fishermen, miners, roughnecks, technicians, engineers, builders, nurses, doctors, teachers, carers, cleaners, cooks, home-makers, the list goes on and on, but it doesn’t include people who assemble words for the titillation of a few economically illiterate Daily Mail readers.
            Heh.

Look, I have no truck with Littlejohn but often he does speak the truth and expose things that otherwise may go under the radar. Yes, he sometimes sounds like a stuck record but I don't hear anyone else banging a drum over things like councils abusing terrorism legislation to pry into people's lives.

It's just not good enough saying he's a hate filled BS monger.

We need the Littlejohns, Delingpoles and Clarksons of this world to act as a counterbalance to all the insidious PC Bullsh*t and corruption in public life.

I'm not sure what's so great about this post. It's someone who makes a career from writing saying "All that guy does is write, the parasite", while sneering because of who the intended audience is.

The basic thrust seems to be the old working class snobbery of "if you're job isn't manual labour then it's not a real job - unless you're a teacher". While her previous career obviously was important - ensuring emergency calls were responded to - you could say it boils down to "answering the phone and getting someone else to do some work".
God forbid we should have anyone with a career that is purely intellectual (and I don't necessarily mean smart).

Quite right. He's actually a hate-filled bulltuliper who favours turning the flamethrowers on homosexuals and is so much in favour of the British way of life and British values that he emails his homophobic rants in from his luxury home in erm, Florida.

                  Hope that helps.

Good smear . You cannot argue the logic of what he says so smear him. It is all the humorless left can do.

Firstly he does not claim benefits and at no stage do you see any indication of "entitlement" in what he says whereas Jack: "when she was claiming benefits, was looking after her son. Childcare must rank as one of the most valuable things that a human being can do (entitlement), even if we ignore the moral and emotional value and consider it in terms of mere utility: without children we will have no-one to make and do all of the things that we need for our security and comfort in our old age.

Entitlement , entitlement entitlement. In a world where one of the greatest problems mankind faces is over population how can this be more virtuous than journalism?
