"approximated to something like 2½ times the legal driving limit"

Some people DRIVE CARS when 2.5 times over the legal driving limit. Yes, they get done (when caught) for drink driving, but they still DRIVE CARS.

I don't think there is adequate proof in this case.
It's very possible for you to consume a lot of alcohol in a short space of time where you would only feel tipsy for a while and then blackout when it eventually kicks in. There was also the chance her drink had been spiked.

I know if I managed to pull in the pub at the end of an evening, the last thing on my mind would be texting my mates to see who wanted to come over to the hotel for a shot at her.

It would have been different if she had invited them all back to the hotel but the text from his mate saying he had a bird showed that she probably didn't even know Evans was present in the room when she had passed out. She thought she was going back with only number 1.

How is that different to if he had fully served his time, since you seem so insistent it's relevant?

To be honest, it's not hugely relevant to me personally - I've already admitted that I don't wish to see rapists playing football on TV. What gets to me is the constant claims of "He's done his time", "He's served his punishment" etc, when than that's only half the story. The bloke hasn't even completed the sentence passed to him and yet he's been held up as the victim in all this?

You could simply not watch the football.

Your objection to people protesting about clubs wanting to take him on appears to be because you believe he was wrongly convicted.

The facts are that he is a convicted rapist. Whatever you, or I, or vwdan thinks about that conviction is neither here nor there in the scheme of things. If the conviction is unsafe, then he must go through the required channels to get that conviction overturned. Unless that happens, he is a rapist.

But why isn't there this level of outrage directed at Luke Mccormick? He killed two brothers aged 8 and 10 whilst drinking and driving. If Evans isn't allowed to play why is Mccormick allowed a second chance?

No idea - I'd not let him play, either, personally. But now you're well and truly out of the scope of this particular argument - certain things hit a chord with the public and others don't.

I don't think there is any real danger of seeing Oldham on the telly!

Rape is "special". Although you're right, anything involving kids is normally "special" too.
