They are probably less likely to waste it on Director salaries, failed fundraising activities (chugging for example) and look at us television adverts.

Not only that, but also look at what they pay to house their staff $8000 - $10000 per month apartments (with armed guards) in poorest Africa for example is not unheard of

No, having worked for a charity I wouldn't take a rate cut. At the end of the day they are a business and should be treated like one.

No, charities are sat right next to the public sector for being very difficult to work with in my experience.

Would you lower your regular rate when contracting for charity?

A year or so ago I was approached directly by a well known charity, I turned out to be an excellent match. I mentioned my rate and they didn't want to or couldn't offer more than 60-70% of my rate, saying we are a charity, you should consider that, to which my reply was, yes but I'm not a charity. Needless to say I didn't get the contract. (now one year later on, I still see the same role popping up)
