I then phone the Us number knowing its 2am in the morning and amazingly the IT Director Answers.
'MF?'
'Yes. Why the hell have you terminated me?'
'Terminated??? We haven't terminated you. Your laptop has been hacked and is being used as a bot to attack our network. We've suspended everything you touch and we want your laptop. I'm flying in our top guy from the security team right now. We want your laptop. Your 'case zero'
Needless to say I had to nicely explain to him how to leave a ******* voicemail!!!Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

Even if they don't do anything dodgy, people have masses of stuff on their computers they are not aware of.
The other day I was looking for where a program kept its settings file so I could back it up. Made a small change and then searched *.*/today in Explorer. There were hundreds of image files from my usual daily peruse of the online papers, most of which I'm pretty sure were not on any pages I looked at. Sure it would be pretty easy to get some child porn etc without even knowing it.bloggoth
If everything isn't black and white, I say, 'Why the hell not?'

MF, thanks for the bloody good laugh and thanks for sharing.
In fairness this was something that could happen to any of us so let he who is without sin and all that.
I think the lesson that CH points out in #2 has now been well learnt.
On a pragmatic note, your name is now mud in that company and I'd start planning my exit strategy pdq.Knock first as I might be balancing my chakras.Comment

I can't believe that someone who was in line for a big hitter role in a yank organisation is also torrenting pron on their company laptop. Especially someone who works in IT FFS. It's the kind of think that gets someone kicked off a graduate scheme or dropped from the sales dept.
If this story is true then you're Suity's forum bitch for the whole of next year unless he literally wets himself on a client site and then admits to it on here.Comment
