It's an interesting philosophical question.
If a stunning blonde asked me to supply her with dope, that's consenting adults. But I would say no, because it's illegal and I don't agree with doing dope.
If she asked me to whip her bum till she screeched then bone her, well that's illegal (GBH) but I would find it difficult to disappoint her

so I guess it's an overlay of one moral standard on another.

On prostitution: We should certainly criminalise any force or pressure used on women. We should try and help those who enter it because of drug addiction or poverty. But there are no good grounds for preventing normal women who make their own choice because they see it as a good living.

Kent was banned because he posted something was essentially saying "You should rape her". It was permanent because he'd accumulated a number of infractions for similar behaviour in the past.

Calling a mod a F* idiot - even one as smart and erudite as me - isn't grounds, per se, for banning. Unless it's in the professional forums of course. It's just robust expression of opinion. However, there is a principle of not insulting other members beyond a certain point.

I live in a country where prostitution is legal and regulated. I know a doctor who works with the prostitutes, providing medical services for free. Very few are delighted with their career choice. Many are doing it due to some form of coercion. Most are not entirely in control of how they work. Even in a legal and regulated environment, there' s a lot of criminal involvement.

Everything in life is arbitrary and relative, we just have to make a judgement, weigh up the pros and cons, balance individual rights and the good of society. Absolutes are for irrational religion.

Well yes I would say some things are absolutes. Murder, rape, etc being the obvious ones. People don't say "well, when you look at both sides, rape is a negative thing" they say "rape is inherently wrong". It's a visceral gut reaction which is typically described as "conscience".
