That didn't sound very believable. I imagine they're including for example a 15 year old girl who has sex with her 16 year old boyfriend, or maybe even every underage teenager who has sex. Will work inside IR35. Or for food. -
Sounds believable to me if you count one off incidents as opposed to long term systematic abuse.Originally posted by VectraMan View PostThat didn't sound very believable. Yeah I was thinking that.Originally posted by VectraMan View PostThat didn't sound very believable. I imagine they're including for example a 15 year old girl who has sex with her 16 year old boyfriend, or maybe even every underage teenager who has sex.
I know many girls under 16 who have had sexual relationships with people about their own age and have been perfectly happy.
I think we also need to understand what counts as 'abuse' nowadays as looking at some of the charges aimed at the celebs in the Jimmy Saville enquiries it seems that someone smacking their ass is abuse.
Note I do not condone smacking someone's ass but it is in a different category to being held down/tied up and ritually and consistently abused.Comment

Interesting back in the day one of the pranks the boys used to play on the girls was to twang the bra strap.....Originally posted by mudskipper View PostSounds believable to me if you count one off incidents as opposed to long term systematic abuse.
I guess this is classed as abuse??Comment

I did wonder that, but the statistic IIRC was from the child abuse professional, and cases like above are not likely to be reported as abuse, so I doubt she was including those.Originally posted by VectraMan View PostThat didn't sound very believable. Trivial incidents and same-age relationships may not be reported individually. But these professionals also based their absurd statistics on surveys, in which the "right" answers to apparently innocuous questions can be interpreted as evidence of widespread abuse.Originally posted by ZARDOZ View PostI did wonder that, but the statistic IIRC was from the child abuse professional, and cases like above are not likely to be reported as abuse, so I doubt she was including those.Work in the public sector? Maybe I'm just naive, but if 1 in 6 children (and 1 in 4 girls) have been abused then we probably all know several people that were. The other slightly unpallettable conclusion is that if abuse is that widespread, then the vast majority of victims must have been able to shrug it off without being emotionally and psychologically traumatised. And that's not a good message. Will work inside IR35. Or for food.Comment

The police officer seemed to think it was a massive and growing problem as he put it "we haven't even got in the boat to look at the tip of the Iceberg", especially since the availability of the internet is maybe bringing out those who supressed their urges. It's quite possible that some of this (1 in 4) includes online grooming here no real life contact is made, but that is still something to be concerned about especially when you hear recently that they have already identified more people than they have time to prosecute.Originally posted by VectraMan View PostShe didn't say reported cases.

A quick google online seems to imply American research has come up with similar figures.Last edited by ZARDOZ; 26 November 2014, 17:15.Comment

But Dom Perignon is rather better. M&C standard tastes like vinegar after drinking DP.Originally posted by Pondlife View PostSince this is a contractors site I shouldn't have to point out that Dom Perignon is produced by Moet & Chandon.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

Sorry but that's totally misunderstanding the times. It was not seen as an archaic law, even most gay people believed that it was disgusting to be gay.Originally posted by original PM View PostNot a close parallel at all - gay sex may have been forbidden but two consenting adults could still have gay sex and the only crime being committed was to break an archaic law.
The difference for pedo's is that it is always forced and always unwanted.
I was talking about how some men are rapists of women, and some men are rapists of men - I'm comparing them to people like Saville who clearly went out of their way to find opportunities, rather than struggling with their sexuality and sometimes losing the fight. Tarring all pedos with the same brush as evil predators isn't really fair, was my point. I assume there are probably a lot more than we imagine, or people who like children as well as adults, but simply suppress those desires.Originally posted by BrilloPad View PostSome adults like being dominated/raped/hurt. Anything between consenting adults is fine.
The thing that concerns me is that children are unwilling participants. And even if they appear willing, they cannot be sure of their own mind until 16.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment
