How can you be so sure unless it happens? Even then it's not quite the same scenario because you know there are people out there who you are attracted to, who you are legally allowed to have sex with, if they want to. A "pure pedo" (rather than a pervert who is attracted to adults and kids) knows that they can never find anyone to have a sexual relationship with. And even if you'd be fine keeping it in your pants, so what? Everyone is different.

Back in the days when, or in countries where gay sex is forbidden, you didn't get the situation all gay people were life-long celibate. Even though they themselves probably agreed with society they were disgusting, the sexual urge is so darn strong that it should not be underestimated.

It doesn't absolve responsibility but a casual "just don't act on your desire" doesn't really show much understanding.

Of course there are those who seem to revel in it - being a predator, etc - but I think that's probably the minority just as you get straight/gay people who enjoy dominating/raping/hurting adults.
Your common or garden pedo should in my view be pitied and supported, not vilified.

That program was truely shocking. Yes that guy should be helped, seems like there are many like him. Was shocked to learn that 1 in 4 girls under the age of 16 will be abused at some point and 1 in 8 boys. The problem is much worse than I ever thought, they really must be all around us. Needless to say if I caught anyone messing with my Kids I would go all ISIS on their arse.

Not a close parallel at all - gay sex may have been forbidden but two consenting adults could still have gay sex and the only crime being committed was to break an archaic law.

The difference for pedo's is that it is always forced and always unwanted.

Some adults like being dominated/raped/hurt. Anything between consenting adults is fine.

The thing that concerns me is that children are unwilling participants. And even if they appear willing, they cannot be sure of their own mind until 16.

Exactly. They are all around us. Which is why those who have unnatural desires need libido suppressants. There also need to be very strong penalties for those that act on the their desires. Especially MPs.....
