You don't have to take out a mortgage, you could just save up and pay with cash. The problem is that everybody wants to have something before they can afford it nowdays!!!

It's frustrating that there's no 'have your say' option. Maybe then she would understand.

I suspect the BBC new damn well what the reaction would be and deliberately left it out. From articles that do mention the feedback they've had it's been pretty damning.

At the end of the day, If she is taken to court, she could be made bankrupt and the house sold to pay the outstanding debts. This would happen regardless of whether she has a new born child or not.

Having been close to this myself, I was made redundant from my permie job in 2001 and had to sell my house as I couldn't afford the repayments, plus pay back other creditors. I know how despairing this can be.

I did, however, manage to find myself some contact work, not at the same salary as my permie role, but was able to make serious offers to my creditors.

Even though I have have a stable job now, my pay is hardly likely to increase unless I change jobs.

Most creditors understand the position some of their debtors are in and in most cases do day that in order for them to help you, you must help them.

If you pussy-foot around and stall, or don't response, they will take a hard line. Taking you to court is the last thing that they want to do, but will do if you piss them off.
Do you think people who pack the confectionary into boxes at fudge making factories tell people what they do for a living?

Sadly this behaviour is par for the course. It's the end of civilisation as we know it. Doomed etc ...

                  WGAS anyway?

If she defaults and her house goes up for auction, some canny IT contractor will snap up a bargain.

It's good the BBC are teaching people to be stupid so that others with a clue can benefit.

                      Lets get this in perspective.

She has 2 buy to let's, a family house, and a restaurant. You are telling me she can't get rid of one of them to release some equity and pay off the rest ?

All she is doing is burying her head in the sand, desperatly trying to sue some company for terminating her contract (dumb dumb dumb, you WILL lose) when she got pregnant, as is thier right (You are a freelancer not an employee you stupid cow) and moaning to everybody that the world is so unfair because she can't afford to pay for her 3 properties and that all the banks should cut her some slack and not expect the money owed to them.

As far as i'm concerned she got herself into the position and she has the option to get herself out of it, so no sympathy here.
