If we spent less time imposing our idealistic standards on the world at large, if we wasted less money in foreign aid when we don't have an iota of control over how it is used and whether it does any good and spent more time simply helping those around us the world would be a far better place.

Foreign aid from governments including the UK is simply bribery. They do not care where the money is going as long as it doesn't go to things that make them look bad.
