If you choose not to abide by international laws, what makes you think that any claim on the resources currently within UK waters are still valid?

UK made 4.7 billion last fiscal year through oil.
Scotland's last deficit was £14.2 billion.
We make more out of financial services than oil but that seems not to bother any nationalist.
The next few years will be bad, 2008 will seem like a blip.Comment
