The EU have been quite adamant that Scotland would have to apply for membership. Also it's still not clear if Spain and Belgium would not veto it in order not to encourage their own separatist regions.
There are quite a few separatists movements in EU member countries. So countries varying from the well known ones to the lesser known ones like Denmark and Finland would veto or do everything to delay Scottish membership into the EU.

Depends on what Scotland agrees to.

Ireland is not in the Schengen area and is in the Common Travel Area with the UK. If Scotland decided to join Schengen then Ireland and the rUK would have to put in place proper border controls with it.

Hopefully they're going to seal it Scotland's independance

All we need now is the Royal Navy to take control of the Oil rigs to ensure there's no reneging on the debt

I wonder would Scottish based contractors still be liable to HMRC? Assuming it takes 18 months from next Thursday till independence day, then there's a full Tax year in the middle with the tax due the following year? What would happen? Is it time to relocate my LTD to the highlands?

hmm this and other questions are not important, the key thing is to free the Scottish from the yoke of Westminster.

don't worry dear, its only a referendum.

This scaremongering is as silly as the YES camp's insistence that Scotland will get everything they want.

I suspect the reality would turn out somewhere in the middle:

                  - Scotland would adopt its own currency and peg to sterling, as CU is not wanted by anyone other than some wavering YES voters who are worried about financial stability and because sterlingisation is probably not compatible with EU membership
                  - Scotland would join the CTA
                  - Scotland would join the EU immediately on independence - Spain may play sill buggers but is under the cosh financially so the EU will lean on them, but there are some risks here
                  - Scotland would take on its share of the debt - Otherwise it wouldn't get into the EU and the credit rating agencies would trash the country as a defaulter

                  Anything unreasonable about the above?

Nope. FWIW, I agree on Spain; they may well cause a fuss.

Fuss, yes, but they are in a weak position so presumably easily bullied, as Ireland has been.
