We should stop opposing Putin's incursion into Ukraine and join forces with the Russian leader in the fight against IS/ISIS.

Apart from the bit about Ukraine, he's not the only one to have suggested that.
In fact it makes sense, as Assad trusts and is supported by Russia, unlike the majority of the ME countries which Syria, Russia and Iran believe have their own agendas in Syria.

The Scots nat said that their plan was for an army of 15k and a reserve of 5k.
He said nothing about an air force or navy
