You'll have no money for a Navy and the EU owns your waters anyway.

    Next question.

Unless Sweden is subsidising, in which case instead of being cheap despite higher taxes, they are cheap because of higher taxes? Do you understand that this may be the case?

Swedish govt invites bids for rural broadband subsidies - Telecompaper

The Swedish Broadband Forum, which brings together public and private agencies in the sector, said applications opened on 03 September for a new round of subsidies for broadband in rural districts. The Board of Agriculture has already received one application each from Sodermanland and Gavleborg counties, two from Skane, and three each from Halland and Vastra Gotaland. A total of SEK 3.25 billion is available to provide fast internet service to approximately 500,000 residents and businesses in the countryside. The subsidies still need European Union Commission approval.

Maybe you should pick your comparisons a little more carefully?

it's a totally different economy. I think you would find their attitude to tax, and their rates, a tad uncomfortable.....

As do I. It's a lovely place. Eye-wateringly expensive, but lovely nonetheless.

So you don't think Scotland will provide subsides as well? With our wealth we will probably have free internet, we already have free prescriptions, tuition fees.

Im surprised non of you morons have launched that scare story "tuition fees will treble", no that only happens in rUK

You're being unfair, because Unix can cut corporation tax and use the savings to subsidise rural broadband to achieve Swedish prices and service levels.

So, all other things being equal, prices will go up, but Scotland will use public money to reverse those upward price pressures?

Do you still think that Sweden has cheaper broadband despite higher taxes or is the reverse true?
