The private firms need to pay taxes to the country who owns the oil. They can't extract oil from Scottish waters and then say they're paying the tax to the USA for example.

This is how people are betting with William Hill, not the odds of it happening.

No is favourite 1/6. Yes is 9/2.
The odds are partly based on the money put on by punters. The big money is down south and they are likely to bet on a no vote based on the media down there. However they don't get to vote do they? Therefore the likelihood is the voting will mirror the Scottish betting.

I like the Norway model but your current load of politicians and so called leaders have not one jot of entrepreneurial or wealth creating bone in their bodies. I would worry more about this than anything that Westminster stands for.
What anti-English agenda? It's been explained already that independence is about breaking away politically from Westminster.

The Scottish government has been making a good job of running the country with the limited powers it already has through devolution. English voters complain about us having free prescriptions, free care for the elderly, free tuition fees, council tax frozen for the past 6 years, etc. but that's because we spend our pocket money wisely.

Westminster would prefer to spend the money in illegal wars and £100Bn on Trident.

The Scottish government has already produced a white paper so you can read the plan here (since you thought it would still need to be drawn up) - Scotland's Future: Your Guide to an Independent Scotland | Scottish Government Publications

Going with you previous comments, how do you know that our leaders don't 'have not one jot of entrepreneurial or wealth creating bone in their bodies'? I bet, without using Google, you would struggle to name 3 MSPs.

Corporation Tax maybe but not on the amount of oil extracted

I wouldn't blame the Scots wanting to go independent, I don't think Westminster represents my interests either and the rise of UKIP is hardly going to persuade them that sticking around is a good idea.

I don't think Trident and the rest of the MoD having to move will be an issue however. Moving all that kit down south will be a huge job and generate billions of pounds of contracts for the regular govt suppliers and hopefully some of the smaller ones too

I have heard this a number of times and particularly the view that you 'rob Peter to pay Paul' in order to get those things free. I am seriously interested where the savings were made to enable Scotland to do that?

Mainly so that I can pressure my MP to do the same

If I were Scottish I would vote Yes. Then can we have a vote for the rest of the UK to become detached from those limp wristed shandy drinkers in London? Westminster might as well be on the Moon it's become so detached from reality.
