The lady has since died and the inquest has suggested that her accidental shooting was partly to blame.
Mr Lovelock stood trial in 1987 charged with inflicting unlawful and malicious grievous bodily harm and was acquitted.
its a real pity, the whole situation seems to a tragic accident / cock up. Look forward to the Lawyers cleaning up on compensation claims. -
To be fair, the Met did carry out an internal inquiry in 1985 that found that they had been "culpably negligent", so they weren't that slow off the mark.
Shame they kept it secret until now
