I'm seeing more of this lately. Before they submit your details to their client, the agency wishes to meet you in person first ?? Obviously to check you out first

It's not usual.

Sounds like they're going to try and pull leads out of you face to face, personally i wouldnt bother unless they come up with a very very very good reason, one that i cant think of!Comment

With some of them it's part of their 'value proposition', they assure the clients they don't just send any ole geek, they have personally 'vetted' us first - which really means they met us in Costa, bought a coffee and took a copy of our passport.
Son, it won't be a differentiator cos they will all be doing itComment

I agree with Tractor, def. a value proposition thing. I've had requests for meetings beforehand, as 'it's good for us to put a face to the name' but I generally don't have time to head across London or where ever for a general chit chat so I tend to promise them that if I get to interview stage I'll come and see them, and they are generally happy with that.Comment

The agency wanted two references up front as well before I've even been offered the position. Not sure what to make of all thisComment

Teksystems will insist on it for some of their end clients but it did mean I was the only candidate and the interview was "am I human" rather than crappy technical questions...
As NLUK, Cojak and Simonmac will all confirm I'm not sure how I passed that bit however....merely at clientco for the entertainmentComment

All the gigs where agencies have wanted to meet me have come to nothing. They want to get more information out of you. Be very wary. And order the most expensive thing you can....Comment
