I suppose then 1/4 of this - £25K is, in effect, paying for 3 months work (60 days say). Just over £400 a day for a high end consultant - bargain.Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!! -
Yep. I had one. Waited for call in middle of day (I was at client and just popped outside for 10 mins) didnt happen so I gave up. So then they called 3 hours later and were put out that I couldnt do it.Originally posted by Eirikur View PostYes once I was expecting a call from the end client and some Indian guy form the agency called me, I didn't understand a word of what he was asking so I just hung up after 10 minutes and on another occasion they forwarded my CV and planned a phone interview with the end client and didn't bother to let me know anything about it, so I got called in the middle of a meeting for an interview.
Once I had a guy ask me my opinion on something pretty specific and in depth. He kept grilling me. Then I twigged this 'interview' was just a chance to get a free support discussion off someone to solve a problem they had.Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!Comment

I have the misfortune of working for a client right now who have outsourced to TechMahindra. The tactics and politics the senior managers play are unbelievable. Getting people fired who don't agree with them, even pulling false accusations to get rid of people. I feel sorry for people working for them, locals and Indians as they are treated so badly. I have seen grown men in tears. It makes me so angry these incompetent bafoons are allowed to operate in this country and still keep winning business. Their consultancy rates are less than my day rate, yet I deliver more than 10 of their consultants.Last edited by JoJoGabor; 13 May 2014, 21:27.Comment

And that is the problem, why are they allowed to take work from UK techies so blatantly, that is why I will be voting UKIP, not because I want/agree with their politics but because its the only way to get the mainstream parties to take notice.Originally posted by JoJoGabor View PostI have the misfortune of working for a client right now who have outsourced to TechMahindra. Slightly OT but I remember when I was working in Newcastle, when for dinner after work alone and was listening to this Bob on a table with business-dressed woman, he was obviously either pitching something or reporting progress on something and I was earwigging.
It was embarrassing, every question was taken like a personal attack, and what stuck me is how the Indian accent is unsuited to eschewing confidence and competence, everything the guy said you said mentally 'Yeah, right...'Comment

But the problem is that big companies in the UK look at cost first and foremost. They see resource for peanuts and go for it. Manager gets promoted for saving £x per year.Originally posted by kal View PostAnd that is the problem, why are they allowed to take work from UK techies so blatantly, that is why I will be voting UKIP, not because I want/agree with their politics but because its the only way to get the mainstream parties to take notice.
Then it goes tits up and gets insourced again.Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!Comment

Nearly went for a gig at BT working for Indian consultancy. Must admit I was a bit concerned - heard some bad things.Originally posted by JoJoGabor View PostI have the misfortune of working for a client right now who have outsourced to TechMahindra. With regards to accents, the same has been proven scientifically for the birmingham accent.Originally posted by stek View PostSlightly OT but I remember when I was working in Newcastle, when for dinner after work alone and was listening to this Bob on a table with business-dressed woman, he was obviously either pitching something or reporting progress on something and I was earwigging.

Yep and the reason for that is the mainstream parties lying down and opening the borders for all and sundry. They are all beholden to these big corporations to let in as many cheap workers as they can so that they can profit off the back of it. Companies making billions while paying workers 6 quid an hr minimum wage. Workers should get a decent living wage ( = no more benefit top ups, Working Tax Credits etc to enable people to live), it wont happen but one can dreamOriginally posted by psychocandy View PostBut the problem is that big companies in the UK look at cost first and foremost. That really is a nonsense statement, bobs are from the Indian subcontinent not Birmingham, still you are an agent so I am impressed that you can actually type.. well done.Originally posted by evilagent View PostWith regards to accents, the same has been proven scientifically for the birmingham accent.
