I fully agree with that...but I have not much to do. I have spoken to few of my ex-colleagues who are in Bank accepted rate reduction...if I do not accept they will find another contractor from market or continue with existing strength. They took 7 weeks to get the approved work order...as I have not proved my worth yet so I can not really bargain. I can bargain after six months when they will know my worth... -
In this case it is not a spin as it is realistically a long term contract. Not liking to be on jobserve every three months, kids are into private schools, wifey not working so have to look for little security while contracting. Though I understand there is no security in contract, things can change overnight but it is psychological boost up that I won't be in Jobserve for next 12 monthsOriginally posted by riffpie View PostWhat's so great about long term contracts anyway? Sounds like something an agency would spin you.
lol nothing more to be honest...

So, you started a new contract at the beginning of March, and went to Bangalore to "set up a team and workshop etc", and now you've given notice on that contract to get a bank on the CV....Originally posted by molsang View PostBut since I finished them in September, I'd done two short term three months contracts in similar higher rate.

Make sure of your IR35 position if that's the case.Originally posted by molsang View Postand I can potentially move from one role to another if I do good job there (which I will definitely do).

And yet you have walked from a contract that you started seven weeks ago...Originally posted by molsang View PostIn my area not many potential long term roles are out there, its quite complex and require plenty of cash to implement it.
Impressive to have got to that stage so quickly.Originally posted by molsang View PostSo I don't have much options left...in my current contract there is pressure to accept permanent role..Comment

So, you're happy to moan that they want to cut the rate before you start, but fully intend to ask for a rate increase mid-contract?Originally posted by molsang View PostI can bargain after six months when they will know my worth...Comment

Let them find another contractor, then. You don't need to bargain, you don't need to "prove yourself" or anything. Either they're hiring you at the rate, or they're not. This is exactly why I left permiedom, this ridiculous carrot-dangling dance.Originally posted by molsang View PostI fully agree with that...but I have not much to do. Fair enough. Sounds to me like you might be better off as a permie, though.Originally posted by molsang View PostIn this case it is not a spin as it is realistically a long term contract. This, right here, is why clients believe they can push contractors around. Because it turns out that in a lot of cases, they can. Dance for me, little minion, dance for your supper. Jam tomorrow!Comment

Well I will see the situation after six months and since this is what agency is saying not me bring up so agency will take care that part and yes I am leaving the current oneOriginally posted by TheFaQQer View PostSo, you're happy to moan that they want to cut the rate before you start, but fully intend to ask for a rate increase mid-contract?
I was not really expecting the Bank offer to arrive out of the blue all of sudden, I stopped chasing the agency after first two weeks. In my present one there are lots of politics, two contractors already laid off last week, few got notice and laying off on 9th Apr, this one not really started...till on beginning stage, accesses have not been given after seven weeks so its God's gift that Bank offer arrived just on time
lol
