    Professional CV writing services

    Hi all,

My contract is soon finishing and I am thinking of using a professional CV writing service to improve my current CV.

Before someone mentions Google - yes I did a search.

Can anyone recommend a company they have used before and knows how to improve IT contractor CVs and maybe LinkedIn profiles?

    Cheers

Please please please try searching first....

You will get your answers somewhere in the 2460 results it brings back using the term 'professional cv' or 1630 if you want to use 'professional CV service'.

      Don't bother with CV companies.

Research and find a professional copywriter and get them to do both the CV and LinkedIn for you.

I haven't done this but would consider it if my CV stopped getting me work.

As a pimp my strong advice is not to use a CV writing service unless you have profound literacy issue and/or English is your 2nd language.

The best thing to do is show it to other contractors and/or a pimp and ask how for comments.

If there's interest, I'll do a CV reviewing session on the 12th before the contractors drinks.

OK. So for those of you with years of experience of different things?

General CV showing general experience, or get as many buzzwords in there as you can?

I paid a fair bit for a professional CV writing services in my early days as a contractor. I kind of saw it as an investment. Effectively it was the template which was good and I am the best at plugging in the gaps. You are welcome to pay me a fraction of the cost and I will send you the template myself and you can fill the gaps in!

So in a way it was a mistake and in a way it wasn't - a learning experience ultimately.

Yep, that's right. Make it as difficult as you can for the pimp to know if you are the man for the role he has.

I do wonder what people are doing in the contract market if they havnt got the wherewithal to create a CV themselves. No, we're not all A level literacy students but its not rocket science.

Only you can write a good CV, its about you! Agree that getting someone to copy check it is a good idea.

Huge +1 to that. I remember a great quote from Mal about contracting is about finding work and running your business, the bit in-between while in a gig is incidental. Many people in contracting seem to fail that miserably.

Yes but sometimes its difficult to fit it all in. Can you honestly say you can fit every single skill onto your CV?

I find if I do it just looks like a long list and most of the pimps/clients have no idea anyway?

                    Although, whats on yours NLUK:-
