Client wants 12 hour shifts starting monday. To be fair, they;ve come up with a decent package rather than expect SWD. BUT its friday pm and they aint done the rota yet for monday.

Amazes me sometimes how clients neglect to do the simplest tasks which end up annoying/winding up people. When it could all be avoided with a bit of organisation and forethought.
        You tell 'em, tiger.

Don't let them walk all over you.

        Again

LOL. Yeh Yeh. I'm willing to flexible with clients but one thing that does get my goat is when the fanny around. Clients pay for my time, and, to a certain extent, my flexibility, what they are not paying for is to own my life for a period of time.

In this particular instance, I've advised client that I'm available to work ANY time, 24/7 over the next month (within reason) and I will fit my personal life around that. However, one thing I did specify is that I need a much notice as possible of when they would like me to supply my services.

This seems perfectly fair to me.

this is not unique to contracting, permies have to bend over like this all the time for "their career" or their bonus.

Client co are treating you like a permie, not good for ye olde IR35

Just reiterate the "I will work any days BUT I require notification X working days in advance". If they're doing a rota rather than just calling for all hands on deck, they can rota around this.

If they seem a bit rubbish, maybe they're just hoping you'll leave.
