    Agencies

Newbie to the forum here so first of all hello all.

Pretty new to contracting, just completed my first 6 monther. the agency i went through have gone all quiet on me and are saying they have no vacancies that would suit my profile.

Had some calls when I was working from the usual agencies but also 1 from Grovelands.

Has anyone had any dealings with them before?

any info would be greatly appreciated

You only deal with one agency? You need to spread yourself out more, get the cv out there.

it was my first contract and was pretty green to the whole thing. didnt know if it was going to be for me but have since decided its the way to go.

looking to spread my cv out a bit and just wondering who is good to use.

        Vacancies?

Time to start thinking like a contractor and the director of a small business (if you went LTD) I am afraid. You are selling your skills to the highest bidder now, not waiting for someone to cuddle you and give you a job.

They seem to have a few PPI claims gigs on the go. Get applying and try and speed up my applications, been nearly a year now!

He had a negative bluety on a quackhandle and was quadraspazzed on a lifeglug.

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

This is going to come as a shock, so brace yourself........ they simply have....... no contracts available that you could do.

            Unbelievable!!!

You expecting them to phone you every day to remind you? How depressing would that be?!

Maybe you should phone THEM every day, maybe they are wondering why you are not more keen, and they are saving the good contracts for those that reeeeaaaalllly show they're interested?

if you read my post you will see they have gone quiet on me, I have maintained regular contact with them to show im keen but "it's a quiet time of the year" apparently.

like i said im new to all this but am trying to be as pro active as possible, sending out my cv and getting registered with agencies, was just looking for a bit of advice from guys who have been in the game longer than me

Sounds like you aren't being proactive enough.

Emails, phone calls, most agents are on LinkedIn, some agencies are on twitter, you could message them there too.

Maybe you should try some of the things this guy does, he IS extreme though.

If you have investment or pensions review knowledge, it's a pretty good time for contracts. PPI is hit and miss. Grovelands has a lot of good PPI contracts but more often than not, the clients withdraw. Personally, I am on the look out for general banking/PPI/admin contracts, but it's difficult to find ones that match the day rate of the current one I am on.
