Just accepted a contract at Adidas headquarters, Herzogenaurach, Germany. Has anyone worked there? Any advice on the local accommodation, etc is very much appreciated.

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

Puma are also based (Adidas and Puma were started by brothers) there. I went some years ago for a project at the Schäffler group but decided to turn it down as basically the town is in the middle of nowhere and they all talk funny (although it is in Bavaria, you don't call them Bavarian but Franken as this is the heart of Frankenland.) I only went for a quick stroll around the town which seems quite nice with plenty of beer type places, probably because this is one of the biggest beer areas in Germany but not to much in the way of hotels. I did in fact make inquiries but most of them were quite booked up, due to this 3 big companies plus it is a holiday area. You might want to look a bit further afield such as Erlangen or Fürth and even Nürnburg is not too far, although if you can get a decent Gastätte in town or one of the neighbouring villages then you'll be fine.
Did I mention they talk funny? Notable person from Herzogenaurach is Lothar Matthiaus who wanted to become the mayor once. You'll notice that they call him Loddar as they don't say 't' in that area.“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”Comment

We assume you have read the warning info on contracting in Germany on the forum and what the implications are for you tax wise.Originally posted by PM_contract View PostJust accepted a contract at Adidas headquarters, Herzogenaurach, Germany. Nuremerg might indeed be a better bet for a hotel or flat. Go onto google and see what you can find for "Apartement auf zeit" (temp flat). Here's one example:
Wohnen auf Zeit Nrnberg | wohnung-jetzt.de - Wohnungssuche - Wohnungsanzeigen 1 - 10
If you don't mind sharing, try looking for a WG or Wohngemeinschaft. You can sometimes pick up short or longer lets in a WG. You might find ones for professionals rather than students. Some WGs want people who will stay longer.
Good luck with your contract.Comment

Bless you vicki!
This is such an unusual post that I decided to let it through..."I can put any old tat in my sig, put quotes around it and attribute to someone of whom I've heard, to make it sound true."
