    Anything similar

    My situation in a nutshell. A recruitment agency contacted me saying they had an end client with a position and could they put my CV forward. I said fine and I got an interview and I got the contract. I actually went in the first morning they requested and was told I needed to fill out an occupational health form and couldn't start until I had done so. I filled out the form and the recruitment consultant said all fine. However he then advised me that his agency had not actually agreed terms and conditions with an intermediary agency that the end client has to use. So over the course of the next week I kept contacting the recruitment agency to check progress and they said they had now agreed terms with the intermediary agency and it was now back with the end client. This was 5 days ago and it has been two weeks since I originally started.

    I get the distinct feeling I am being fobbed off and the agency are hoping I quietly disappear. I would like to know if anyone has had similar experiences and what they have done about it (if anything) and what the result was.

    Is this a problem because they are not paying your invoices? You don't make this clear if that is the case or not.

    If the root of the problem is not getting paid, then the solution to this could depend on whether or not you are opted in or out to the employment regulations...

      Have you ever met the client? Sounds to me like you've only had dealings with the agency.

        If so, are your invoices being paid?

          Eh? He hasn't done any work. How can he get paid? If he expects pay while waiting for this to clear up he has bigger IR35 issues to deal with.

          This happens from time to time. We have had posters on the site that have been canned on their first day whilst sitting in reception so it isn't unusual to get strung along but agent and client.

          Do as they ask, chase them regularly but most importantly get applying for roles. You shouldn't really stop applying/interviewing until you are have your first time sheet signed and invoice in IMO.

          EDIT : Oh, re-reading what the OP put it is very unclear. I assumed went in was went in to client. Very confusing post.

              Either a case of tough luck so go look for another contract, or a case of being owed money and then the answer could vary...

                To clarify. I went in on the agreed start date. but as I say was sent off site to fill out a form within 10 minutes of starting, so no invoices yet but my question really is the end client wanted me to work there but the agency seems to have not agreed terms. Therefore can I do anything about this?

                  I met the client, went for interview, got the contract, started for 10 minutes and since that nothing else substantial.
