Does everyone slavishly scan full details of their passport ie complete with full serial numbers on display, to agents as 'proof' they are a UK national?
I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

LOL.....I know what you're up to. Three scans mate, Cover, crest and photo page. Nothing else will do

Forgot to mention though, that the passport not being valid doesn't seem to matter !! Getting the scans in the right order is vital !!

Despite being near apoplectic with rage the night I filled in the 'online form' I ended up having a pile of fun with all this the following day.

I wrote 'Not Valid For Travel' in crayon (using MS Paint) on the passport scan and sent them holiday photos as proof of my 'break'. Having this wee bird on the phone trying to work out whether my answers were meant to be serious or not had me in stitches for a good part of the day

Honestly, it's getting ridiculous now. I used to just say no because I found it a pointless waste of time, and it never lost me a gig. These days I'm a bit more inclined to play along with what is basically a meaningless and bureaucratic request, but if they wanted to get picky over whether I'd sent a clear photograph or a clear scan, I'd be tempted to revert to my previous policy of "it's my Ltd you've got a contract with - I'll deal with confirming my Ltd's staff's identities, and if you want to confirm who I am check my Director details which are on file with Companies House".

This bit seems lost on them. They are making out it's the client but I've worked for them before within the last 18 months. Its the contract 'support' team who are being arsey. They've obviously not come across Bolshie before though!

Strangely enough, I was in exactly that same position where they asked for a 'reference for my last assignment at that client'. I told them to speak to the person who hired me for this one as they also hired me for the last one and the silly cow actually said "We can't ask the end client !!"

But it is a legal requirement for companies to know if people working for them are eligible to work in the UK (or whatever) and the only way they can do this is with a passport. It isn't a meaningless bureacratic request.
