Offer scrapped after 20days of waiting - any legal rights?

    Hi All,

I received a confirmation of assignment with rate, start date and end date of the contract. Agency said they cannot release the contract unless they complete ref checks and Disclosure Scotland. All this took 15days. Then they came back and said PM ran out of cost codes. He no longer has budget for my role. He is trying to get it from other projects..etc..etc.. bottom line is - the offer stands null and void

Is there any compensation I can claim, from the agency or the employer, in this case?

    Thanks

        Unfortunately this is quite common.

Best of luck with the next one.

I think that's a consensus, but you could always ask KittyCat what she thinks and she'll tell you the opposite.

Sorry I really feel for you HP bounced me after 4 months waiting for the gig to start. (had other things going on but its still a kick in the nuts)

nothing you can do apart from go back to the client and take it like a man and see if they can find you other stuff.

Some fundamental problems here but this isn't uncommon and part of being a contractor and a floating resource to your clients.

nope. i once held on for 3 months (thought the gig would be ace) only to have the project code binned.

Until you have a signed contract, and are on the client's site, and you are sat down in front of your new computer with a cup of tea (and preferably logged in to CUK), then your contract hasn't started.

As i have recently been reminded, don't stop looking/interviewing until the ink is dry on a contract.
