It would only be file type formated, not content. I do not think you are right on that one.

Because it's quicker and easier for them to edit out your personal details (editing this out I have no objection to...reformatting is a total no no for me though...both from a candidate POV and recruiter POV, one can tell a lot about a person seeing the original CV)

And yes Acrobat might be more widely used in the world as a whole (though this is debateable due to ilegal copys of word), but word is easily the more widely used in the UK (and possibly European) commercial world.

If i was the client i would get annoyed that you do that. If someone is unprofessional enough to put that crap in a contractors CV i would want to know

Not to mention the agent correcting candidates poor spelling and english. If a candidate can't communicate efficiently I'd want to know.

I guarentee that if the words copyright are contained on anything then you are not legally allowed to copy, re-produce, modify, or whatever. That is copyright law. Also as this is someones personal information it is also protected under the DPA.

As I said in a previous post in this thread - too many recruiters ASSUME they know the law and mis-quote it. It is about time that recruiters started researching the law as it applies in the industry they work and not just guessing that it always works in the recruiters favour.
