Oh you're so clever! Why didn't I think of that?!?! Seriously, you think it's that easy to fool experienced vetting people who probably know every trick in the book?......

"They" know more than you think they do............

And I know for a fact G4S have exemption regarding spent convictions which people including the OP may not be aware of.

Are you in a grump or something!?
Yeah, I think something to do with crucifying myself in the first post by posting without thinking it through. I know all this, just worded it badly.

Everyone's allowed the odd badly worded/ill though-out post in a while.... You are one of the most consistently sensible/informative posters on here imo, so you ought to be forgiven imo

Make your mind up, one minute you have to tell them who they are and now they are clever enough to find out by using every trick in the book. lol

I think "They" know a lot less than they should do.

You think you have to tell them who your friends are because they don't know or cant find out?

You think you have to tell them all about your financial dealings, where you work/have worked, who your family are, where you went to school, how much you spend on your weekly shop, that you got done for smoking pot when you were 19 etc because they don't know or cant find out?

No of course not, it's all a test.... a test of your honesty and integrity and to make sure that you're not a bulltulipting liability/criminal that isn't suitable to handle TOP SECRET material.

(ps. I said they'll know every trick in the book that people have used to try and hide stuff, not every trick in the book to find out stuff about you)

Most the people doing the DV interviews are ex-coppers. I think after a few decades grilling hardened criminals they should be able to tell when some IT geek is trying to pull the wool over their eyes.

Just tell the truth and you will be fine.

Spent convictions. Normally, people dont have to declare spent convictions. However, G4S (and I supose some other companies) have exemption from this. Potential employees should declare spent convictions since G4S have regulatory exemption from the spent convictions legislation \ statute.

If a potential employee doesnt declare any spent convictions which G4S later find out, they can dismiss the employee forthwith.

                  DV

I had DV clearance from 1987 while in the Army, I worked in a couple of units that give me extra clearance on top and when I moved to the contract world on leaving the Army I kept my DV clearance, in the 6 years since I have managed to keep hold of it up until this year when my contract end coincided with my DV renewal.

What I did not expect was for my former employer (HP in a contract role) to get my SC clearance cancelled at the same time after 4 months of trying to get work as a DV contractor it was not until I took up my present role that I found the above out, I am now 5 weeks into the role and still waiting for a "Priority" SC Clearance after submitting the forms online 5 weeks ago.

My advice if you are offered DV grab it and make sure you never loose it, can cause all sorts of issues if you do not have any clearance.

Hope I have not put a downer on your future exploits I have to say in 6 years contracting the past 4 months is the only time I have been out of work.

Thus gving lie to the agencies' constant assertion that you have to have active clearance to work in a secure role. Which is what I've been saying for the last 11 years...

Incidetnally DVA's SLA for SC is 30 days for 85% of cases, and two weeks for accelerated. Don't believe a word of it, mine took five months.
