Just had an agency ask me to pay a fee and undergo an "Online Evaluation" before they would consider putting me forward for any roles. I politely declined of course, but has anyone else come across this?

I could be wrong here but is it not illegal for a recruitment agency to charge for finding you work?Originally posted by Project Monkey View PostJust had an agency ask me to pay a fee and undergo an "Online Evaluation" before they would consider putting me forward for any roles. Edit : It *is* illegal.

You are suppose to report them to UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills | BIS"You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

I think they would state the fee is optional, but at the same time the sales pitch on their website says that won't send out any CV if the candidate has not been through their evaluation process.Originally posted by DaveB View PostI could be wrong here but is it not illegal for a recruitment agency to charge for finding you work?

As admirable as it all sounds - if all that mattered was quality of application, then they'd be asking you to do this for free - not charging you to apply to their agency! COWBOYS!!"Being a permy is like being married, when there's no more sex on the cards....and she's got fat."

Can't argue with that
