Lesson Of The Day - Always be prepared

Sent an application off through Jobserve and within minutes I had a phone call from the pimp, wanting more info from me, all groovy and sending me more details, asked me for my rate which I gave, just looking at the advert this is lower than what's on offer.

    Fail On Me!

I want my account deleted and all of my information removed, I want to invoke my right to be forgotten.

So if I've got this right....you read an advert, decided to apply and quote a rate before taking a look at the rate on offer on the advert you just read?

I usually read the rate first and based on that read the advert, or not...........

No I read the rate, applied for it, then when they asked me what my rate was my mind went blank as to remember what the rate advertised was and under cut myself!

Don't worry. Once you've fully read the spec or spoken to the client it will be more complicated and a more senior role than you were led to initially believe.

Your rate will therefore have to be adjusted accordingly.

Pfft. Fancy the agent not explaining the requirements properly giving the contractor the wrong impression. muppets.

This is just crying out for an agent to create a parody around .. 'Just had this numpty contractor help me make shed loads of cash' but I don't think this is allowed in this section of the forum.

The rate I said was still higher than my current so would be happy to take it at my rate, and then push them when it comes to renewal

You can't win tho as last year I know an agent throw me out because I went at his high end and he found someone cheaper.

Best advice is go in low and ramp up later.
