Its the PERM gravy train that´s only temporary

Everytime a company outsources 50 plus PERMS ,who thought that their job was secure loose their job Contractors are then brought in to sort out the mess.
PERMS normally have no experience in sorting out mess.
I now check and manage configurations I used to do myself which increases the lenght of my contract and decreases my stress.
The Indians cannot speak French and the French cant understand Indian English so there is still work in Belgium and France.

oh and don't expect this to be an election issue, all those 'main' parties are quite happy to export our jobs to India in this 'globalised' world.
You pay peanuts, you get monkeys ....... or in this case Indians.

That's a great point, I never thought about it but yes Indians would learn English/American which means countries not using the 'global language' would be more protected.

There's a plan B... specialist language training for Indians

Yes, I have had a good 'temporary' 12+ years out of the train.

Another 5-10 and I won't care if everything is offshored.

The French do outsource to India. I have worked in Parisian offices with lots of Indians, onsite and offshore.

They also outsource to North Africa, where they do speak French. So if you think your speaking French will get you a job in Paris with Société Générale, think again: it will get you a job in Algeria with the outsourcer for Société Générale. At Algerian rates.

That's what I said in the 1980s. I can't deny that a got a good run, but I still seem to need that 5-10 years more .....

Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson
