Some agencies are reluctant to call mobile numbers because of the cost.

Luddites. Do they expect you to be tied to your office/home/client's site telephone all day?

By having an 084 or 087, it gives the impression that the call is cheaper. I've noticed this by the number of emails I get asking me to call the agency.

Yeah and the agencies just happen to have 084 and 087 numbers themselves.

Also, if you want to do some one off consultancy work, you can put the 084/087 number on your website and redirect it to your mobile / phone number without disclosing your mobile number.

That's the only good reason to have one.

I have 2 gmail accounts, a personal one and one for contracting, as it's just easier to keep all the job applications and agency emails away from my personal account.

Also after noticing that a friend had her personal email address on her CV - chaosandpanic@gmail - I figured that stan.goodvibes as my email address on my CV probably wasn't a good idea either.

Who can be bothered with hosting their own domain? Sod that, way to much work for zero return IMHO

On the other hand, clients think that I'm using a clientco mail address inappropriately when I use my own business account, with some numpties you just can't win...
