I have 2 gmail accounts, a personal one and one for contracting, as it's just easier to keep all the job applications and agency emails away from my personal account.
Also after noticing that a friend had her personal email address on her CV - chaosandpanic@gmail - I figured that stan.goodvibes as my email address on my CV probably wasn't a good idea either.
Who can be bothered with hosting their own domain? Sod that, way to much work for zero return IMHOLast edited by Stan.goodvibes; 18 February 2010, 03:22.

Originally posted by Jeebo72 View Post+1 ... some people seem to be going to some amount of effort. 1 email, 1 phone no!
It also means I can have my phone on when on client sites without being called by agents who've picked up my CV from job sites.

I use www.oxonera.com for free fax service (comes through as an email), but they also offer free 0870 numbers (as with those suggested above) which divert any UK numbers at no cost to you.

I know the philosophy of if it ain't broke, don't fix it, but there is also the sentiment, that if something is worth improving, then do it.

Just get a new PAYG SIM and put it in an old phone when my CV goes in to circulation and put that on the CV. Once secured a decent length contract just toss the SIM
Email just set up a mail box on my business domain just for responses which also gets deleted at same time as SIM (giving agent who secured contract a permanent email beforehand)
Keeps down the fishing calls, especially those really annoying ones what come from agencies that that you sent one CV to X amount of years ago

So, redirect it to your mobile and keep the agent chatting and they pay through the nose while mostly talking out their arse

Both provide voicemail to .wav email... You can just use it to redirect to your normal mobile/landline, I just prefer to avoid talking to agents and having them knowing my real number unless absolutely necessary

Originally posted by Mr.Whippy View PostI have one of those free personal 07xxxx numbers. I've set it up to redirect all calls straight to voicemail, which then emails me a .wav file of the message. So I can keep my regular number off my CV and screen all the calls.
I ditch the number when I'm not looking for work and then get new one when I am looking.
