    Jesus I need a contract

ITs been 1.5 months and Im getting fed up, depressed and so need a contract / work. War chest is taking a kicking and Im trying to hold onto every pound I can, which I so hate !!!! Im a contractor, and for the last 10 years have pretty much brought what ever I like, but these last 2 year have certainly eaten into me and my treasure chest.

Not many Unix SA contracts in Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire at the moment, and the ones that have popped up IVe applied for. I had one phone interview and am still waiting, 1.5 weeks later so I dont have much faith for that one. The other position was filled internally.

Have you noticed how companies now want pretty much every skill in one person ? "unix sa required that has solaris, linix, hp-ux, aix, oracle, sybase, web developer. £210 pd" Everything for nothing. I got a call this morning, a great SA role, up in Derby for 110 pd.:-(

Out of recession ? My arse ! Although better, the market is still poor and Im hoping Febuary will be better as budgets, projects become finalised and recruited for.

Anyone else in the same boat ?? Just wanted to vent my frustration to my contracting brothers and sisters ! Althought nice to be at home, Im now at the point where I need to get out or Im going to throttle my partner :-)

I've always been in contract, so I suppose its just my turn for a down period, got to have the rough with the smooth.

Fingers crossed for myself and the others that are searching for work. I suppose one positive is that Im well into Dynasty now :-)

I'm in the same boat, except I did work for the last 7 months of last year albeit on £100pd as it was better than nothing, I thought I'd stand my ground at renewal but instead of a rise I got the boot.

I was back in contract on a better rate a week later... that project got canned 2 weeks in.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, if I could go back 5 years and tell myself what the market was going to be like now I'd have done things very differently.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Ouch! Dude you got canned from a £100 per day job!! What rise did you ask for? £120 a day?

(sorry, I hope you take this for the light hearted response that was intended)
